📖 Stage Description
O Coto marks the start of the stage that brings the Camino Primitivo proper to its close. After 22 km of quiet Galician countryside — pedunculate oaks, meadows and small granite villages — the arrival at Melide carries real symbolic weight.
At Melide, the Primitivo meets the Camino Francés. The crowds of the Francés can come as a surprise after the solitude of the Primitivo. From Melide to Santiago, 54 km remain, now shared with thousands of pilgrims from across Europe.
Melide is celebrated throughout Galicia for its octopus Galician-style — pulpo a feira — served in the many pulperías in the town centre. An unmissable stop before hitting the road again.
