The Via Turonensis (GR®655) is one of the four great French pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. It links Tours to Ostabat-Asme over 1,018 km in 36 stages, crossing Poitou, Saintonge, the Gironde and the Landes. A start from Paris is also possible (an additional 287 km).

The route passes through exceptional sites: Tours with its Gothic cathedral, Poitiers with its early Christian baptistery, Saintes with its Roman triumphal arch, then the vast pine forests of the Landes before the Pyrenees. The French section is much flatter than the other routes, ideal for long-distance walkers.

This guide covers 36 stages from Tours (or from Paris), with interactive maps, elevation profiles and practical information for each day of walking.
