📖 Stage Description
Tours marks the start of stage 1 of the Via Turonensis. The Touraine, "garden of France", unfolds its vineyards, Loire castlex and soothing horizons. The limestone — the white tuffeau — gives the villages a unique light.
The Saint-Gatien cathedral glows in the dawn light of Tours. The Indre river guides the first steps toward Veigné, in the heart of Touraine. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Indre-et-Loire, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
Arrival at Veigné concludes this stage of 20,8 km with a positive elevation gain of 180 m — an Easy stage, accessible to the majority of walkers. All practical information for the overnight stop is available in the sidebar.
