📖 Stage Description

From the forecourt of Notre-Dame de Paris, the Via Turonensis heads southward. The route crosses the suburbs of Paris — Montrouge, Bagneux, Fontenay-aux-Roses — before reaching the wooded hills of the Chevreuse valley.

The crossing of the Plateau de Saclay offers striking panoramas between university campuses and nature reserves. The path descends into the Yvette valley, passing through Gif-sur-Yvette. The significant elevation gain (D+ 543 m) is due to the many valleys of the Ile-de-France landscape.

Arrival at Chevreuse concludes this 37.2 km stage — the most demanding of the Paris-Tours route. The medieval town with its castle of La Madeleine marks the definitive exit from the Paris basin and the entry into the forests of Ile-de-France.
