📖 Stage Description
O Pedrouzo: the last stage. The path winds through forests and hamlets before climbing Monte do Gozo — the Mount of Joy — where the towers of Santiago Cathedral finally appear on the horizon. Emotion runs high.
The final kilometres through the old city are steeped in history: cobbled lanes of the historic quarter, the scent of incense, the sound of bagpipes. The Praza do Obradoiro suddenly opens onto the baroque facade of the cathedral. The Pilgrim Mass, the ritual embrace of the statue of Saint James, the swinging of the great Botafumeiro — all seal weeks of effort.
