📖 Stage Description

Grandas de Salime is the starting point of a stage that crosses the border between Asturias and Galicia — a powerful landscape and cultural transition. The path climbs to the Puerto de Acebo before descending into the Galician interior.

Eucalyptus groves, sunken lanes and the characteristic Galician mist gradually replace the Asturian scenery. Signposts begin to appear in Galician. The stage is long, with significant cumulative elevation, but deeply meaningful — Galicia is the herald of Santiago.

A Fonsagrada, the first major Galician settlement, has good accommodation. Crossing into Galicia marks a key psychological turning point in the journey.
