📖 Stage Description
This stage crosses the heart of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla to reach Almadén de la Plata, a town whose name — "the silver mine" — recalls its ancient mining past. The Romans were already extracting precious ores here.
The path winds along clay tracks between cork oaks and wild olive trees. You may come across vaqueros on horseback. The ascent toward Almadén is gradual but sustained.
Almadén de la Plata preserves important Roman remains. Its albergue, set in a former convent, is one of the finest on the whole route.
