📖 Stage Description
This stage links two great pilgrimage towns. Santo Domingo de la Calzada takes its name from the saint who built roads, bridges and a hospital for pilgrims in the 11th century. His cathedral houses a live hen and rooster in a gilded cage — symbols of the miraculous resurrection of a wrongly hanged pilgrim. Unique in the world.
