📖 Stage Description

Saint-Pé-de-Léren marks the start of stage 27 of the Via Turonensis. The Pyrénées-Atlantiques unite Béarn and the Basque Country in a landscape of verdant hills, rushing gaves (mountain rivers) and villages with white houses and red timber framing.

The routes converge. At Ostabat-Asme, on the Gibraltar hill, pilgrims from Tours, Vézelay and Le Puy meet to cross the Pyrenees together. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
