From Bourges to Issoudun, the route crosses the heart of Berry, the region with its distinctive character celebrated by George Sand. The great agricultural plains, ponds and limestone ridges compose a landscape of serenity.

The route follows the Arnon valley for stretches — a precious river in these dry plains. The villages along the way — Osmoy, Lury-sur-Arnon — have preserved their fountains and their old washing places.

At 40.3 km, this is one of the longest stages on the route. Rated Easy thanks to its near-flat terrain, it nevertheless demands endurance and good hydration. Issoudun offers a well-deserved arrival.
