📖 Stage Description
Entering Toulouse, the Pink City, is one of the great moments of the Via Tolosana. The path crosses the suburbs and old neighbourhoods before reaching the historic heart of France's fourth-largest city. The rosy Toulouse brick, gilded by the setting sun, gives the city its incomparable character.
Toulouse is rich in treasures: the basilica of Saint-Sernin, the largest Romanesque church in the Western world and a major pilgrimage site since the 11th century, the place du Capitole, the Jacobins convent with its famous palm-tree vault, the city's many museums, and the banks of the Garonne. An essential stop for the Compostela pilgrim — the historic meeting point of the southern routes.
