📖 Stage Description
Leaving Coimbra, the path heads north through pine forests and eucalyptus groves typical of central Portugal. The wooded hills of the Coimbra region provide pleasant walking after the mountain stages that came before.
The stage passes through a handful of quiet villages before reaching the town of Tentúgal, famous for its pastéis de Tentúgal — irresistible flaky pastry sweets that make for a very welcome mid-stage treat.
Mealhada is an iconic destination for Portuguese food lovers, the undisputed capital of leitão assado (spit-roasted suckling pig). The restaurants lining the main road are hard to walk past!
