📖 Stage Description

The stage runs alongside the vineyards of the Bairrada, an AOC region famous for its tannic red wines made from the baga grape and, of course, for its leitão. The path crosses a landscape of agricultural plains and pine forests — relatively flat and easy walking.

The route gradually converges on the valley of the Águeda, the river that gives the arrival town its name. Cornfields and kitchen gardens signal the approach of the coastal plain around Aveiro.

Águeda is known for the spectacular coloured umbrellas that adorn its streets each summer, giving the town a festive and picturesque feel. A lively market town with every amenity.
