📖 Stage Description

The stage crosses the heart of the Aveiro district, one of Portugal's most industrialised regions. Despite the urban and industrial zones, the path regularly finds its way through eucalyptus groves and hillside trails that offer pockets of nature between the suburbs.

Passing through Oliveira de Azeméis at the halfway point gives you a chance to stop in this lively town with its market and plenty of cafés and restaurants — a good opportunity to stock up before the final section to São João.

São João da Madeira, nicknamed the "capital of the Portuguese hat", is a dynamic industrial city known for hat and shoe manufacturing. Its municipal albergue and restaurants give pilgrims a warm welcome.
