📖 Stage Description

The stage crosses the green hills of the Minho, the garden of Portugal, through a landscape of trellised vines, hedgerow bocage and granite farmhouses draped in wisteria. The elevation gain is moderate, with a few climbs through the hills on the left bank of the Cávado.

The path winds through numerous picturesque hamlets where locals still tend their vines on small family plots. White or red vinho verde will be on offer in almost every café along the way.

Ponte de Lima, founded in 1125 and considered the oldest town in Portugal, is a true medieval gem. Its Roman bridge over the Lima, its gardens, its manor houses and its serene atmosphere make it one of the finest stops on the Camino Portugués.
