📖 Stage Description

A solemn moment: crossing the international bridge over the Minho between Valença (Portugal) and Tui (Spain) marks the entry into Galicia, the final region before Santiago. The atmosphere shifts — yellow arrows replace the Portuguese blue markers, and the grey granite of Galicia takes over from the schist.

Tui, with its medieval cathedral-fortress looming over the Minho, deserves a short visit before you press on northward. The route between Tui and O Porriño passes through peri-urban and industrial zones, a sharp contrast to the Minho countryside.

O Porriño, a granite industrial town, is an unavoidable waypoint on the camino. Its large albergue and unpretentious restaurants welcome pilgrims for their first night on Galician soil.
