📖 Stage Description
The path first follows the shores of the Ría de Vigo before climbing into the hills through forests and authentic Galician villages. The stage passes through the town of Arcade, famous for its oysters and mussels farmed in the ría — a gastronomic stop not to be missed.
The route then crosses the hills along sunken, shaded lanes typical of the Galician countryside. Cruceiros (granite wayside crosses) and hórreos punctuate this history-laden path at every turn.
Pontevedra, the provincial capital, has one of the finest historic centres in Galicia — entirely pedestrianised, with cobbled lanes, gardens and shaded squares. The basilica of Santa María la Mayor and the chapel of La Peregrina are enduring symbols of the Way of Saint James.
