📖 Stage Description

From Villedieu-le-Château, the route winds into the wooded hills of northern Touraine, crossing the border between Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire. Oak forests, orchards and sunken lanes characterise this stretch.

The stage passes through little-known but charming villages, including the cave dwellings of Troo and the cellars carved into the tufa cliffs. Tufa, the white limestone characteristic of Touraine, begins to shape the landscape here.

Arriving at Reugny marks the entry into the Touraine vineyards. This village, at the heart of the Vouvray appellation just a few kilometres from the Loire, heralds the final stage into Tours.
