📖 Stage Description
Dax marks the start of stage 25 of the Via Turonensis. The Landes forest — the largest planted forest in Europe — stretches for hundreds of kilometres. Maritime pines, sandy tracks and blue lakes create a unique atmosphere suited to meditative walking.
The Adour crossed, the Landes give way to the Gaves rivers. Peyrehorade, at the confluence of the Gave d'Oloron and the Gave de Pau, marks the entry into Lower Navarre. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Landes, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
Arrival at Peyrehorade concludes this stage of 19,1 km with a positive elevation gain of 0 m — an Easy stage, accessible to the majority of walkers. All practical information for the overnight stop is available in the sidebar.
