📖 Stage Description

Ligugé marks the start of stage 8 of the Via Turonensis. The limestone Poitou stretches between agricultural plains and river valleys. The Romanesque heritage is everywhere — bell towers, sculpted facades, baptisteries. One of the richest regions for Romanesque art in France.

The bocage of Vienne unfolds between meadows and forests. Lusignan, former seat of the lords of Lusignan, carries the legend of Mélusine the serpent fairy. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Vienne, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
