📖 Stage Description

The path continues its ascent through the Espinouse massif, a high plateau of moorland and bog. The route winds between centuries-old beech forests and damp meadows scattered with wild daffodils in spring. The views down into the deep valleys are breathtaking.

The Col de l'Ourtigas marks the border between the Hérault and the Tarn. Murat-sur-Vèbre, a Tarn village perched above 800 metres, commands a magnificent panorama over the ridges of the Montagne Noire. An artisan cheese dairy, a family-run inn and the silence of the forests give this high-mountain village a very particular atmosphere — a fitting end to a long day's walking at altitude.
