📖 Stage Description
The path crosses the forests of the Haut-Languedoc between La Salvetat and Anglès, through a landscape of wooded hills alternating conifers and deciduous trees. The route sometimes follows the banks of the Agout and its tributaries, with stretches through shady, damp undergrowth.
This section of the GR653 sees few pilgrims and offers complete immersion in the Tarn's natural world. Anglès, a hilltop village on the edge of the Haut-Languedoc natural park, is surrounded by forests and has a pleasant leisure lake. The mountain and forest atmosphere of this stage stands in striking contrast to the Mediterranean landscapes of the opening days.
