The stage crosses the heart of the Gers, a land of Gascony with wide horizons and harmonious hills. The route passes through several evocatively named bastide towns, between sunflower fields, Armagnac vineyards and duck and goose farms raising foie gras.

Gimont, a royal bastide founded in 1265, is a quintessential Gers stopover. Its 14th-century wooden market hall, its arcaded main street and Gothic church make it a perfect example of Gascon medieval town planning. The town produces celebrated foie gras and holds a traditional fattened-poultry market in season. A stage that immerses you in the intimacy of agricultural, food-loving Gascony.
