📖 Stage Description
The path leaves Auch through its western suburbs and enters the plain of the Baïse, the wide alluvial valley of the Gers. The route is flat, crossing a tranquil agricultural landscape of orchards, cereal crops and grazing meadows.
L'Isle-de-Noé, a modest Gascon village, welcomes the pilgrim on the banks of the Baïse. The river, navigable in places, was once the main transport route for Armagnac on its way to Bordeaux. A transitional stage with no dramatic terrain, but rich in authentic Gascon atmosphere: calm, generosity and a deep sense of hospitality are the abiding values of this land.
