📖 Stage Description

The path climbs into the hillside country of the Bas-Armagnac, a land of vineyards and Ente plums dried into Agen prunes. The route traverses a typically Gascon rolling landscape of low vines, apple trees and oaks. The golden evening light on the hillsides is magnificent.

Marciac, a bastide founded in 1298, has become world-famous for its Festival Jazz in Marciac, one of Europe's greatest jazz festivals (held every August). Outside festival time, the village is a quiet Gascon town with its medieval market hall, arcaded central square and collegiate church. The Musée de la Musique Jazz is an absolute must.
