📖 Stage Description

The path leaves the Camargue plain and ventures into the first scrubland of Languedoc. The route climbs gradually toward the foothills of the Nîmes garrigue — a landscape of fragrant scrub rich in rosemary, thyme and cistus, dotted with white limestone outcrops. The villages along the way, with their golden stone houses, are quintessentially Languedocian.

Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues, a peaceful Hérault village, marks the entry into the Hérault department. Views open up toward the Gardiole massif and the first ridges of the inner Mediterranean hinterland. A transitional stage between the Camargue and the wine-growing Languedoc, crossing a landscape of vines and garrigue alive with intoxicating scents.
