📖 Stage Description

The longest stage of the Camino da Costa begins with the Minho crossing by ferry from Caminha to A Guarda, the first Spanish town, with its Celtic hill fort on Monte de Santa Trega and its renowned seafood restaurants.

From A Guarda to Baiona, the path hugs the wild Galician coastline, passing the monastery of Oia (12th century), perched dramatically above the sea. The scenery alternates between cliffs, isolated beaches and forest trails.

Baiona is steeped in history: it was here that the Pinta made landfall in 1493 bearing news of the New World. The parador inside the medieval castle and the picturesque town centre make for a triumphant arrival.
