📖 Stage Description

Leaving Pontevedra through its medieval quarter and granite lanes is a pleasure in itself. The stage quickly enters the typical Galician countryside: isolated hamlets, hórreos (raised stone granaries), low-trained vines and eucalyptus groves along a pleasant dirt track.

The route passes through Briallos and several small farming villages before descending into the valley of the Rio Umia. The landscape is green and peaceful throughout.

Caldas de Reis has been a spa town since Roman antiquity. Its hot spring fountains are a time-honoured way for pilgrims to soothe tired feet — a tradition very much alive on the Camino today.
