📖 Stage Description

Leaving Pontedeume, the path climbs into the hills of Atlantic Galicia, crossing a typical bocage landscape of meadows, oak woods and granite hedgerows. The views over the Galician countryside from the heights are remarkable.

The stage passes through Miño, a charming seaside town on the ría do Burgo, before heading south through wooded hills. The path frequently follows corredoiras — those shaded sunken lanes lined with ferns and broom that are the soul of rural Galicia.

Betanzos, former capital of medieval Galicia, is one of the finest monumental towns in the north-western Iberian Peninsula. Its three great Gothic churches — San Francisco, Santa María do Azogue and Santiago — its medieval fountains and its intact historic centre make it an unmissable stop on the camino.
