📖 Stage Description

A short but beautiful stage: after Pobeña, the path crosses the cliffs of Cap Ontón with breathtaking views of the Cantabrian coast stretching westward. Pebble beaches and isolated coves alternate below.

You enter Cantabria, a region quite different from the Basque Country — less urban, less industrial, with its own identity of shepherds and seafarers. Green landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see.

Castro Urdiales comes as a delightful surprise: a prosperous medieval town with its impressive Gothic castle of Santa María del Mar towering over the harbour, a Romanesque lighthouse and a lively fishing port. The town takes great pride in its fresh fish.
