📖 Stage Description

From Güemes, the stage first crosses the green hills of inland Cantabria before descending toward the coast and the shores of Santander Bay.

The ferry crossing of Santander Bay from Somo or Pedreña is one of the most memorable moments on the Camino Norte: the bay stretches for several kilometres, a sea breeze fills the air, and the skyline of Santander gradually takes shape on the far shore.

Santander, the regional capital of Cantabria, is an elegant city with its Sardinero beach, cathedral, the Magdalena Palace and a lively coastal atmosphere. A genuinely fine place to rest.
