📖 Stage Description
A pleasant short stage from Santillana del Mar — a chance to recover after yesterday's long haul, or to visit Altamira in the morning before setting off.
The path winds through the gentlest Cantabrian scenery: lush meadows, oak hedgerows and unspoilt beaches like Oyambre. The coastline grows more jagged as you approach Comillas.
Comillas is a refined 19th-century resort town with several architectural gems: El Capricho by Gaudí (1883–1885), a wonderfully eccentric Orientalist folly tiled with sunflowers; the neo-Gothic Sobrellano Palace; and the Pontifical Seminary. The beach is beautiful, the atmosphere unhurried.
