📖 Stage Description
A pleasant short stage with a real gem in store: Lastres (km 5), one of Spain's most beautiful villages by many rankings. This Asturian fishing port clings to a cliff like a Cinque Terre village, its colourful houses cascading down toward the sea.
The path continues through apple orchards — Asturias is cider country, and this area is its heartland. In autumn the scent of fermenting apples fills the air; in summer the trees give welcome shade.
Villaviciosa is the cider capital of Asturias: several sidrerías in the old town, the Romanesque church of San Salvador de Valdediós 5 km away, and a lively weekly market. A genuinely pleasant place to stop.
