📖 Stage Description
The longest stage since Santander — nearly 38 km — crosses the heart of Asturias between Villaviciosa and Gijón. The path passes through the outskirts of the Asturian capital but still offers fine stretches of natural scenery.
You cross El Puntal and the Asturian coastal plain before reaching the suburbs of Gijón. The landscape blends rehabilitated industrial zones with green spaces, reflecting Asturias's transition from a mining economy.
Gijón is the largest city in Asturias: a lively port, the San Lorenzo beach (2.2 km right in the city centre), the old town of Cimadevilla perched on a headland, and an enviable food and nightlife scene.
