📖 Stage Description
A short transition stage between the urban coastline of eastern Asturias and the wilder west. The path passes through Salinas and follows the shore to San Juan de la Arena, a small fishing port on the ría del Nalón.
The ferry crossing of the ría del Nalón is a symbolic moment: you cross a few metres of water from one bank to the other, yet feel as if you have entered a different world. Industrial Asturias falls away behind you; wild Asturias begins.
Muros de Nalón is a quiet little village on the heights above the ría, with a fine view over the estuary.
