📖 Stage Description

The first stage entirely in Galicia — and the change is immediately striking. The landscape has nothing in common with Asturias: dense oak, chestnut and eucalyptus forests, sunken lanes bordered by granite walls, hamlets of two or three houses.

The stage is relatively short and allows you to settle into Galicia. The path passes through typical hamlets where rural life seems unchanged for centuries: black-and-white cattle, women tending their kitchen gardens (hortas), children playing in front of the hórreos.

Lourenzá is a monastic village centred on the imposing monastery of San Salvador — a monumental 17th-century baroque façade that appears suddenly as you enter the village.
