📖 Stage Description

The longest stage of the final stretch (37 km) crosses the deepest heart of inland Galicia, between Baamonde and Sobrado dos Monxes. A demanding day, but one that leads to one of the most beautiful sites on the entire Camino.

The route passes through Guitiriz (km 12), a thermal spa town known for its sulphur waters, before continuing through forests of pine and eucalyptus. Galician hamlets follow one after another — increasingly untouched, increasingly timeless.

The arrival at Sobrado dos Monxes is breathtaking: a 12th-century Cistercian monastery rises from the Galician forests like a vision. The Benedictine monks who still inhabit it welcome pilgrims into their albergue — a profoundly spiritual experience.
