📖 Stage Description

Departing from Chartres, the path crosses the southern suburbs of the cathedral city before reaching the wide plains of the Percheron Beauce. The terrain is essentially flat, with gentle undulations.

The route occasionally follows the nascent Loir valley, passing through quiet villages. The cereal plain gradually gives way to a more rolling landscape, heralding the Loir basin and the first meadows of the Perche.

Bonneval, a former fortified town, welcomes pilgrims with its medieval ramparts and the abbey of Saint-Florentin. The town of Dunois is a historic stop on the Via Turonensis, perfectly equipped for pilgrim accommodation.
