📖 Stage Description

From Bonneval, the stage follows the Loir valley heading south-west. The gentle, winding river guides the first kilometres through a landscape of wet meadows, poplar trees and old watermills.

The stage passes through Châteaudun, a fortified town perched on a limestone promontory overlooking the Loir. Its castle, one of the finest in the Loire region, commands a sweeping view. The Sainte-Chapelle within the castle walls is well worth a visit.

The arrival at Cloyes-sur-le-Loir comes with a gentle descent into the valley. This medieval town, with its Gothic bridge and half-timbered houses beside the river, is a peaceful haven. Pilgrim accommodation is well developed here.
