📖 Stage Description

Dangé-Saint-Romain marks the start of stage 4 of the Via Turonensis. The limestone Poitou stretches between agricultural plains and river valleys. The Romanesque heritage is everywhere — bell towers, sculpted facades, baptisteries. One of the richest regions for Romanesque art in France.

The Vienne river winds between poplar trees. Châtellerault, the cutler city, and its famous Henri IV bridge have dominated the river since the 16th century. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Vienne, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
