📖 Stage Description

Dissay marks the start of stage 6 of the Via Turonensis. The limestone Poitou stretches between agricultural plains and river valleys. The Romanesque heritage is everywhere — bell towers, sculpted facades, baptisteries. One of the richest regions for Romanesque art in France.

Poitiers rises on its limestone plateau — one of the cities richest in Romanesque art in France. The baptistery, cathedral, and Notre-Dame-la-Grande are unmissable. The route follows dirt paths and minor roads through a typical landscape of Vienne, alternating forest paths and village crossings.
